Become Qualified
Pacific Seaflight offers USCG-certified training programs for the following certificates and ratings:
Captain
International Maritime Organization (IMO) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) require that anyone in command of a "high-speed vessel" (operating above 30 kn) obtain a type rating for their Master Certificate. The training curriculum does not address any navigation or seamanship topics; rather, it is vessel-specific operations training. The USCG-issued type rating issued upon course completion is vessel-specific and allows the Master to operate only the specific high-speed vessel for which the rating was issued. Pacific Seaflight operates the only HW-20 training program pending USCG approval.
Requirements
Be at least 18 years of age
Hold a Masters Certificate
Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language
Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test
No pilot license required
Navigator
IMO and USCG require a crew of two for any wingship. The second operator position is the navigator. As the Navigator is not in command of the wingship, they do not need a Masters Certificate. With this exception, the training is identical to the Captain program.
Requirements
Be at least 18 years of age
Hold a USCG Boating Skills and Seamanship Certificate
Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language
Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test
No pilot license required
Engineer
The Engineer training program covers all vessel-specific maintenance procedures and requirements.
Requirements
Be at least 18 years of age
Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language
Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test
